WATCH: Prasidh Krishna reignites fiery feud with Joe Root on Day 4 of ENG vs IND 2025 5th Test at the Oval
Prasidh Krishna and Joe Root clashed once again in a fiery verbal exchange on Day 4 of the intense fifth Test between England and India at the Oval.

Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna and ace batter Joe Root were once again involved in a heated exchange on Day 4 of the fifth and final Test between India and England at The Oval in London. Players from both teams are battling hard in the high-stakes finale of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.
Earlier in the match, Prasidh Krishna had exchanged words with Joe Root on Day 2 in an effort to disrupt the batter’s focus. Root responded to the sledging, and umpire Kumar Dharmasena had to step in to calm things down. After the day's play, Prasidh admitted that it was part of his plan to unsettle Root mentally. The latest incident took place after the fifth ball of the 23rd over during England’s second innings, continuing the tension between the two.
Root had just pushed a good-length delivery from Prasidh towards mid-on and taken a quick single to get off the mark. As he completed the run, Prasidh walked toward him and appeared to say something, reigniting their earlier spat. Root didn’t respond this time, but the moment made it clear that the verbal battle was far from over. India, meanwhile, is in a strong position in the match thanks to early breakthroughs by their fast bowlers.
India Strikes Early as Emotions Run High at The Oval
Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna made key inroads into England's batting lineup during their 374-run chase. Siraj removed Zak Crawley late on Day 3 for 14 runs, while Krishna struck in the morning session on Day 4 to dismiss Ben Duckett, who made a fluent 54 off 83 balls.

At the time of writing, England was 87/2, with Ollie Pope and Joe Root at the crease, and stand-in skipper Pope leading the charge. With England ahead 2-1 in the series, India must win this final Test to draw the five-match contest. India had earlier won the second Test at Edgbaston, while England claimed victories in the first and third Tests. The fourth Test in Manchester ended in a draw.
