Watch: Rahul Dravid meets Rohit Sharma at Reliance Foundation ceremony as video goes viral
The former head coach of the Indian cricket team, Rahul Dravid, meets the former Indian captain and current opening batter, Rohit Sharma, at the Reliance Foundation ceremony as the video goes viral.

The former World Cup-winning captain, Rohit Sharma, who made his international debut under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid and led a successful campaign, would be the former head coach of the Indian side during the ODI World Cup 2023 and T20 World Cup 2024. The Nagpur-born has shared a very close relationship with the former Indian batter.
A recent video has gone viral from the Reliance Foundation ceremony in Mumbai, where Rohit Sharma was present alongside Nita Ambani and the captain of the Indian Women’s side and the Mumbai Indians Women’s captain, Harmanpreet Kaur. Rahul Dravid also made his appearance in the same program alongside the former assistant coaches of the Blue Brigade.

Rohit and Dravid had some wonderful tournaments in the two ICC trophies, out of which they went on to win one. Even in the ODI World Cup 2023, India went into the final against Australia without losing a single game in the group stage and the semifinal before facing defeat at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

However, nine months later, they turned it up against South Africa in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, where the Rohit Sharma-led side ended India’s ICC trophy drought of eleven years and claimed their first 20-over ICC title after a wait of 17 years.

“We were talking about it yesterday on the bus. I guess time flies, doesn't it? I actually remember Rohit even before the Ireland series, when we were playing a challenger in Madras. We all knew that Rohit was going to be special. We could just see that he was a very special talent. That I would so many years later be working with him that I never thought about or envisaged.” Dravid recalled the first meeting with Rohit in a press conference.
Under Dravid, India were excellent in the field before Gautam Gambhir took charge of the national side last year. Under the latter’s coaching, India went on to win the Champions Trophy 2025 and the Asia Cup 2025 and aims to continue the same success in the T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka.
