The left-handed middle order batter of the Indian side, Rinku Singh, who prepares for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, starting on September 09 in Abu Dhabi, has revealed the story of why borrowed the bat from Virat Kohli, the former Indian Test and T20I batter, during the days in the Indian Premier League (IPL) when Kolkata Knight Riders faced the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
Rinku looked back at the story when he played an event with Virat Kohli, and that was when he got the bat from the Delhi-born. Later, he asked the veteran to give another one after breaking the old one in the nets. The cameraman chased him as the video went viral.
“We played a tournament together with Virat Kohli. So, I wasn’t very familiar with him back then. But when the IPL came, I asked him for a bat. So, I played the first game and continued with it in the second during the tournament. But it got broken during the net practice. So when I went to Virat bhaiya to ask for the bat, the cameraman came chasing me.” Rinku Singh expressed in a viral video.

Rinku has smashed over 546 runs in 24 T20I innings at an average of 42 and a strike rate of 161.06 with the help of three half-centuries at the best score of unbeaten 69 runs. During the UPT20 league, the southpaw clubbed 372 runs in nine innings at a strike rate of around 180.
Rinku also recalled the story of how he got a new bat from Rohit Sharma, when the latter gifted a special bat to Angkrish Raghuvanshi, the KKR batter. That was when he got another bat.
“That’s how the video went viral. The same story happened with Rohit bhaiya. He was sitting in the dug-out, and I was talking to Tilak Verma. So he came and gave the bat to Angkrish Raghuvanshi, which was already prepared. So I was a little shy of asking, but they let it go. Then he gave me the bat, and that video also went viral. It feels good to use the superstar’s bat.” Rinku Singh revealed in the same video.
