India’sfielding performance has been excellent in the last couple of T20Is of the five-match series against New Zealand as Rinku Singh continued the same with another fantastic catch on the boundary rope where he held his nerve till the last moment and made sure that the ball would stick in his finger, while he settled himself inside the field.

On the first delivery of the 14th over of the first innings, Glenn Phillips launched the slot delivery from Kuldeep Yadav over the long-off region for a massive six as he read the googly from the hands of the leg-spinner. With that six, he completed 100 sixes for New Zealand, sitting alongside Martin Guptill (173) and Colin Munro (107).

However, the spinner has his revenge on the fourth delivery of the over. Phillips looked to go for the same shot again. This time, it was little on the shorter side as the southpaw lofted the ball straight down the ground where Rinku made a proper ground and leaped at the right point of time to grab the catch comfortably.

Rinku perhaps made it look an easy catch, but to judge the speed of the delivery and then to keep the momentum of the running body inside the boundary, along with holding onto the catch, as New Zealand again slipped to 152/5 in less than 16 overs, where they lost half of their side in the last 52 runs.

Earlier, the Kiwis got a strong start with the bat as Tim Seifert and Devon Conway celebrated their first 50+ runs T20I opening partnership in the last 17 innings of the format against India since January 2020. The former smashed 62 runs in just 36 balls at a strike rate of 172.22 with the help of seven fours and three sixes.

On the other hand, Conway drilled a fantastic 44 runs in 23 balls with the help of four boundaries and three sixes at a strike rate of 191.3, which set a strong platform for the Blackcaps.

Brief Score: New Zealand 167/6 (Tim Seifert 62, Kuldeep Yadav 2/39) vs India.
