Watch Rishabh Pant come out to bat amidst fractured toe during the Eng vs Ind 4th Test in Manchester.

When the news of Rishabh Pant’s fractured toe came out, which could rule him out of the series and the next six weeks, it wasn’t great news. He didn’t come with the Indian side either at the start of the day, before joining an hour into the day’s play. The BCCI provided an update on Pant’s injury status, on him potentially batting if required.
After the wicket of Shardul Thakur, the entire crowd at Old Trafford stood on their feet and clapped the Uttarakhand-born, who came down the stairs slowly with an injured toe. No one believed what they were seeing in the eyes. Even for a moment, the home side looked stunned.

Pant went for the booming drive on the sixth stump delivery as it smelt past the outside edge of the bat and carried to the wicket-keeper. The second ball squared up the left-handed batter, who couldn’t do anything with that. In between those two balls, he asked the umpire about the line of his bat, which suggested that perhaps he wanted to leave the balls.

The third ball was a bit of a short ball as it bounced awkwardly and hit him in the hands. Tough times continued for the batter. He slapped the next short ball through covers for a single; that was the least he could have done.
On the next delivery, he started to run and got to the other side of he crease. He started trying to use his feet and look to smash the bowler outside the park. But the rain pushed the umpires to take an early lunch as Pant again went back to the dressing room with the injured toe.
