Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lost the match against the Gujarat Titans (GT), but Sanju Samson left his mark through his glove work behind the stumps

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lost the match against the Gujarat Titans (GT), but Sanju Samson left his mark through his glove work behind the stumps. With a quick pair of hands, Samson, in seconds, dismantled the stumps of the GT skipper, Shubman Gill. It was his first stumping in the CSK colors.
CSK and GT faced off today at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. After losing the toss, the GT captain asked CSK to bat first. CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad looked not unhappy, though, as they were asked to bat first on their own home ground.
Sanju Samson’s quick hands leave Shubman Gill stunned
Ahead of the match, Sanju Samson was in good form, smashing two centuries for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026. Expectations were high around him; the home fans were expecting to see another masterclass from the star keeper-batter.
Samson was dismissed for 11 off 15, and CSK managed to get only 158 in 20 overs in exchange for 7 wickets. On a good note for the team, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad finally got rid of his run drought. Gaikwad scored 74 not out off 60 with six 4s and four 6s. The opener’s fighting knock left in vain as the team suffered a batting collapse in their middle order. Urvil Patel, Sarfaraz Khan, and Dewald Brevis were dismissed cheaply. Shivam Dubey was disappointed again.
Gujarat Titans did not have to toil too much to claim the target scores. They won the match by 8 wickets and 20 balls to spare.
One of the highlights in the second innings was the lightning-fast stumping of Sanju Samson. The opening pair of the Gujarat Titans- Sai Sudharshan and Shubman Gill- stitched a 58-run partnership inside the 7th over of the second phase of the contest.

When Gill was going strong to claim a T20 half-century, Samson showed his fat hands. On the third ball of the seventh over, a good length ball from the Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmed went down the leg side of the right-hand batter, Shubman Gill. The batter stepped out from his crease to push the ball on the leg, but failed to make any connection.
Samson, the wicketkeeper of CSK, moved slightly to his left to collect the ball. He made no delay to hit the stumps right after pouched the ball. Gill’s left was only a few millimeters away from touching the crease before Samson dislodged the bails. Gill departed after claiming 33 runs from 23 balls. However, the dismissal of Gill was not enough to restrict GT to barred them from touching the finish line.
For another defeat, CSK's chances to qualify for the next phase of the ongoing IPL 2026 become leaner. They will have to win all of their remaining matches in the group stage to keep the play-off chances alive.
Fans go crazy as viral wicketkeeping brilliance takes over the internet
