IPL 2026: Who said what after CSK vs GT match 37
Gujarat Titans beat Chennai Super Kings by 8 wickets in IPL 2026 as Sai Sudharsan scored 87 to lead a comfortable chase of 159.

Gujarat Titans defeated Chennai Super Kings by 8 wickets in the IPL 2026 on Sunday. Pursuing 159, GT ended up with 162/2 in 16.4 overs. Sai Sudharsan delivered a match-winning knock of 87 from 46 balls, including 4 fours and 7 sixes. Shubman Gill got out early, but GT stayed in control and chased the target comfortably.
Earlier, CSK scored 158/7 in 20 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad played a captain’s knock of 74* off 60 balls, but he did not get much support from other batters. Shivam Dube scored 22, Jamie Overton made 18, and Kartik Sharma added 15, but CSK could not build a big total.
GT bowlers were good. Kagiso Rabada claimed 3 wickets, and Mohammed Siraj and Manav Suthar got crucial wickets. Early wickets for CSK meant they never really got back into the game, and eventually Gujarat Titans chased down the target with ease to complete victory.
CSK vs GT: Who said what after the match
Ruturaj Gaikwad (Chennai Super Kings Captain):
"Sometimes I hate to assess it in that way but it was challenging a bit. For the medium pacers, it was holding a bit, it was two-paced. Even the bounce was a bit up and down but I felt if not too many wickets upfront, we still would have got to 170 or 180. That would have been still competitive. They just still kept coming after the powerplay and it was a bit difficult to play some shots. (on the expectations from the pitch) Not expected to be honest. It's hard to assess how it's gonna play. I'd say in the last 3 games we kind of got to know how it will play or we were in a situation where we could say 60% it's going to play like this, 70% like this. In this game we didn't have any idea how it will play and by the time we wanted to adapt and change, we were too late. We tried but just didn't come off. In the timeout when Flem came out, I spoke to him that I am trying to be positive and aggressive but sometimes I am waiting for a full pace delivery, the ball is popping up a bit and sometimes I am waiting for slower ball to come at a pace which the last delivery came but it just came off a bit too quick or with more or less bounce. I told him I am trying to change as much as possible but it's just not happening at the moment and it was really difficult to change every ball. It was just about judging or expecting it will come good but it didn't. A bit of off day right from ball 1. We were a bit lethargic. Will keep it aside and look for the next one. I got off to a really good start. I thought I will keep that momentum up and then 3 quick wickets fell right in front and I thought we need a big partnership. We were trying to go against a bowler then another wicket fell. I took my time and rotated strike. I would have rotated the strike a bit more better on any other ground. It is frustrating. I just saw how I can change my momentum but nothing much was left so I started going. We were batting really well so thought if we cross the powerplay with 1 or 2 down, we will get a bowler in the 2nd innings but lost 2 quick wickets in the 4th over and had to get a batter in and make sure we get some runs. Unfortunately it didn't work out but I think the thought process was really good."

Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans Captain):
"Very happy to get a win like that. It is very difficult to win in this part of India. [whether this was the complete performance] Apart from the last 4 or 5 overs of fielding, it was a pretty good effort from us. [on the surface] I was a little bit confused whether to bowl first or bat first on this wicket. We bowled pretty well in the powerplay and it has been the areas where consistently we have done well. If I've to be really critical, finishing the innings has been a little bit of concern for us and in the upcoming games we will improve on that base. When Dube came in, we were like should we bowl one over of Washi but we thought the game is in our hands and let's go as deep as possible maybe. They are 8 or 9 down and the last over doesn't mean much. He bowled a decent over gave about 13 runs. All in all it was a pretty good effort from us. (on Sudharsan) He's been batting brilliantly. Even in the innings that he got out in the middle, he was batting beautifully in the nets and got a fifty in the 2nd match. It was always a matter of spending that much time on the wicket and once he is set, he is that kind of a player who can get the maximum reward with minimum risk and that's his advantage."
Kagiso Rabada (Player of the Match):
"(How pleased is he with how the ball is coming out of the hand?) Yeah, actually didn't feel like I started very well today. That's how cricket goes. I'm just glad that I could put the result in and play my part in getting the win. We really needed the win today. (Is he happy with his rhythm?) 100%. It is and it's just about maintaining that and staying ahead in the game. I guess it's just not taking anything for granted. Sticking to your process and sticking to your routines. Lot of fast bowlers have a clear tactic. It's just nice to see the fast bowlers coming together. It's working because we are taking wickets. But it's also about containing the runs. It's a lovely journey that we have had so far."
