Virat Kohli’s 52nd century during the opening ODI of the three-match series between India and South Africa at the JSCA Cricket Stadium Complex in Ranchi was a reason for not only him but the entire crowd present in the city. A priceless moment of a security guard has gone viral on a social media platform.

It was the moment when Kohli nudged a single, gliding the ball into the short third man region to complete the single, and celebrated his 52nd century, which is the most by any batter in a single format of the game. Kohli went past the former Indian captain and the greatest of all time, Sachin Tendulkar, who had 51 centuries in the longest format of the game.

With the century of Kohli, the security guard jumped in the air and started to move his hand in joy. It was the exact reaction perhaps thousands had in the ground when Kohli brought up his century in quick time during the Ranchi clash.

Batting first, India posted a massive score of 349 runs in their allotted 50 overs. The number three batter notched up 135 runs in just 120 balls at a strike rate of 112.50 with the help of 11 boundaries and seven sixes, while the other veteran batter, at the opening slot, Rohit Sharma, nailed 57 runs in 51 balls at a strike rate of 111.76 with the help of five boundaries and three sixes.

In the lower-order, stand-in captain of the side, KL Rahul smashed 60 runs in 56 balls, thanks to two boundaries and three sixes, while Ravindra Jadeja smashed 32 runs in 20 balls. With the ball, the Blue Brigade picked up three wickets in the first five overs of the innings.

South Africa still got bundled out for 332 from the situation of 11/3 as their three batters got fifties with an aggressive mindset. India went on to win the contest by 17 runs to go 1-0 up in the series.
