In a thrilling IPL 2025 encounter between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 9, GT captain Shubman Gill was bowled out early by a class delivery from Jofra Archer.

In the third over of GT's innings, Archer bowled a super-fast ball at 147.7 km/h. The ball swerved in and went past Gill's bat, hitting his off-stump. Gill managed only 2 runs from 3 balls, and his wicket was lost when the team score was only 14/1. Interestingly, prior to the match, ex-Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan had stated that Gill would struggle to meet Archer's in-swinging balls, and that's precisely what occurred. Archer's speed and run-ups were too great for the skipper of GT.

After Gill's fall, Sai Sudharsan managed the inning for GT. He played a great innings of 81 runs in 50 balls, including 8 fours and 3 sixes, as the team crossed 185 runs in a little over 17. This was a game that both teams had to win, and Archer's attacking bowling gave RR the early impetus. The game also showed how pace bowlers like Archer can still dominate in T20 cricket.
