Watch: "Is your bat done?" — Mohammed Siraj's clever sledge gets Kamil Mishara to throw away his wicket in IND vs SL 2nd Test

Mohammed Siraj played a clever mind game to help India dismiss Kamil Mishara during the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo. India, led by Shubman Gill, posted a huge first-innings total of 503 runs before making a strong start with the ball.

As Kamil Mishara and Pasindu Sooriyabandara tried to build a partnership, Siraj tried to unsettle the Sri Lankan batter with his words. The Indian pacer asked, “Is your bat done?”, which appeared to frustrate Mishara. The umpire also had to step in before Mishara was dismissed in the very next over.

The incident added another sledging moment to the India-Sri Lanka Test series. It also came after Yashasvi Jaiswal had a verbal exchange with Sri Lankan pacer Asitha Fernando in the first Test.

Siraj's sledge rattles debutant Mishara on his first Test ball

Mohammed Siraj tried to unsettle debutant Kamil Mishara with a clever sledge during Sri Lanka’s first innings in the second Test. The incident took place in the ninth over, with Siraj repeatedly trying to get under the left-hander’s skin.

The exchange reminded fans of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s approach in the first Test in Galle. Jaiswal had engaged in a verbal battle with Niroshan Dickwella and even mentioned an IPL offer to provoke him before Dickwella was dismissed by Prasidh Krishna in the same over.

Siraj’s comments came after Mishara left another delivery outside the off stump. The ball moved away after pitching on a good length, and Mishara wisely let it go through to the wicketkeeper. After Mishara left two consecutive deliveries, Siraj exchanged a few words with him, trying to force the debutant into playing a shot.

What Siraj said and how the wicket unfolded in Colombo

Mohammed Siraj tried to unsettle Kamil Mishara with a series of comments during Sri Lanka’s innings in Colombo. Siraj said, “You’re not even putting the bat to the ball. You’re leaving every delivery. Then go on, show us by playing a cover drive for four.” Mishara replied, “That’s my concern. How I play is up to me. You focus on your bowling; my bat will do the talking.”

The Indian Pacer continued the verbal exchange, but Mishara appeared calm and did not react much. After another attempt to provoke the batter, the umpire stepped in and asked the players to move on. Siraj was later heard saying, “What happened? Is your bat done talking now? Go back to the dressing room.”

Two deliveries into Prasidh Krishna’s next over, Mishara was dismissed, with Krishna taking the wicket. Krishna bowled a sharp short delivery outside off stump that climbed quickly. Mishara tried to fend it away but only managed a thick edge, which went straight to wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel.

Fan reactions and what this means for Sri Lanka's batting order

Sri Lanka’s batting order came under pressure after Kamil Mishara was dismissed following a promising start. His wicket added to the team’s problems as India’s bowlers continued to put pressure on the home side in Colombo.

Fans also reacted strongly to the incident between Mohammed Siraj and Mishara. Many praised Siraj for trying to unsettle the debutant, while others felt the dismissal came mainly because of Prasidh Krishna’s excellent delivery rather than the verbal exchange. Here is how the fans reacted:

Mishara’s early dismissal could also force Sri Lanka to rethink their batting approach. With India’s bowlers looking dangerous, the middle order will need to take more responsibility and build partnerships to keep Sri Lanka in the game.
