India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah brought a moment of levity during the press conference at the end of Day 2 in the third Test against England at Lord’s. As he addressed media queries following his exceptional 5/74 spell, a phone rang mid-conversation. Without missing a beat, Bumrah quipped, “Somebody's wife is calling. But I will not pick it up,” sparking laughter across the room. The 31-year-old had every reason to smile, having earned a place on the prestigious Lord’s honors board with his five-wicket haul under testing heat in London.

Bumrah's spell destroyed the middle order of England's lineup, including the key wickets of Joe Root, Harry Brook, and captain Ben Stokes, as England were bowled out for 387. Bumrah returned from being rested for the second Test as part of workload management and left no doubts about being fit and in form.
With a calm demeanor, he addressed the judgment that often follows elite athletes and emphasized that it doesn't bother him anymore.

The Indian quick shared that while he acknowledges records like his name going up at Lord's, it is the memories that matter more.
Recalling the unforgettable Lord’s Test in 2021, Bumrah spoke about how he and Mohammed Shami batted India out of a tough spot with an 89-run unbeaten partnership and then returned to bowl England out in just 60 overs.

'I Remember Memories, Not Just Milestones'

"When Shami Bhai and I won the match with batting, so obviously, I will remember those memories. It is a good thing to come to the Honors Board. When my son grows up, I can tell him that my name is on the Honors Board," Bumrah said. “And it is also there in many other places. But I remember the memories. In that match, I took only 3 or 4 wickets. But that memory was very special for me because we came forward in the game from behind,” he added.

Reflecting on criticism and the pressure of expectations, Bumrah remained grounded. “As long as I wear this jersey, there will be judgments... Even when Sachin sir played 200 Test matches, he was still judged. I have just left it that way. So everybody judges,” he said with a smile, summing up the reality of professional cricket with grace and good humor.
