Names of Pakistan bowlers on the Lord's honours board in Tests

During the second Test of the three-match series between England and Pakistan at Lord’s, the right-arm pacer of the visitors, Mohammad Abbas, became the latest to pick up a five-wicket haul and get his name on the Lord’s honours board. It’s always a prestigious achievement for any bowler to celebrate a five-wicket haul with the ball.

Pakistan have a long association with Lord’s, and several of their finest bowlers have produced memorable spells at the venue with the red ball. Their connection with the Lord’s Honour board goes back to 1954, when Khan Mohmmad became the very first player of the Pakistan side to feature in the list.

Over the decades, the fast bowlers and the spinners of the Pakistan side have continued to leave a mark at the venue. From the start of the generation with Khan Mohammad and Fazal Mahmood to the recent stars such as Mohammad Amir and Yasir Shah, the list has reflected the variety of the bowling tradition of the country.

It has been a significant achievement for the Pakistan side because the venue demands patience and the ability to get movement, using the famous slope. The five-wicket hauls at the ground represent more than just the stunning statistical performance- it’s a moment that has become a part of the venue’s cricketing history.

The venue has also been an advantage to pacers and spinners equally, putting both types of bowlers in the list. Recently, the ground has helped the bowlers so much with the swing and seam movement that batting has become a hard job. Here is the list of all the Pakistan bowlers to celebrate a five-wicket haul at Lord’s to get their names on the honours board-

#1 Khan Mohammad (5/61) in 1954-

It was the very first Test match for Pakistan at Lord’s in 1954 against England, as they were bundled out for only 87 runs in the first innings, having played 83.5 overs. Johanny Wardle returned with figures of 4/33 in 30.5 overs, including his 22 maidens.

However, the tourists made a strong comeback as the hosts declared on 117/9 in their first innings. Khan Mohammad bowled with good pace and ended up with a superb figure of 5/61 in 15 overs. Later, they batted second and ended on 121 runs for the loss of three wickets as the game ended in a draw. That was Khan’s only red-ball game at Lord’s for the national side.

#2 Mudassar Nazar (6/32) in 1982-

It was the second Test match between the two sides from the 1982 series at Lord’s when the visitors declared on 428 runs for the loss of eight wickets as their opening batter, Mohsin Khan, nailed a dashing knock of 200 runs, thanks to 23 boundaries, along with Zaheer Abbas’ 75-run knock. Most of the home batters got starts but failed to convert them into big scores and were eventually bundled out for 227.

In their second innings, England were asked to follow as they were bundled out for 276 runs, thanks to the 112-run third-wicket partnership between the two half-centurions, Chris Tavare and Ian Botham. But most of their batters failed to answer Mudassar Nazar, who returned with figures of 6/32 in 19 overs. The visitors completed the 77-run chase by 10 wickets in just 13.1 overs.

#3 Waqar Younis (5/91) in 1992-

It was the second Test match between the two sides in 1992 at Lord’s when the home side were folded up for 255 runs in the first innings, despite the 123-run opening stand from the two half-centurions, captain Graham Gooch and Alex Stewart. The rest of the line-up showed the white flag against Waqar Younis, who ended up with 5/91 in 21 overs.

Three fifties from Pakistan’s batting line-up pushed them to 293 runs in their first innings before the hosts again displayed a poor performance with the bat and could add only 175 runs. Wasim Akram ended up with 4/66 in his 17.4 overs. The tourists experienced a nervy 141-run chase by two wickets.

#4 Mushtaq Ahmed (5/57) in 1996-

It was the opening Test match of the 1996 series between England and Pakistan at Lord’s when the fantastic 148-run knock from Inzamam-ul-Haq, along with the half-century from Saeed Anwar, saw them reach 340 in the first innings as the hosts were blown away for 285 runs.

Three fifties from the touring party saw them declare on 352 runs for the loss of five wickets and set a massive target of 408 runs for England, who were bowled out for only 243, despite the 154-run second-wicket stand, and lost the contest by 164 runs. Mushtaq Ahmed returned with figures of 5/57 in 38 overs, thanks to 15 maidens.

#5 Mohammad Amir (6/34) in 2010-

It was the famous Lord’s Test match between the two sides in 2010, which Mohammad Amir would look to remember for the five-wicket haul but forget for what happened afterwards. Jonathan Trott and Stuart Broad’s superb centuries in a 332-run stand for the eighth wicket saw the home side posting 446 in the first innings as Amir returned with figures of 6/84 in 28 overs.

The tourists were bundled out for just 74 runs in their first innings and were asked to follow-on, which didn’t go their way either. The visitors were bowled out for 147 runs in the second innings, with Graeme Swann ending with 5/62, and lost the game by an innings and 225 runs.

#6 Yasir Shah (6/72) in 2016-

It was another memorable Test match for Pakistan at Lord’s from the 2016 series. Their captain, Misbah-ul-Haq, smashed a fine knock of 114 runs along with Asad Shafiq’s fifty to shoulder them to 339 runs in the first innings as Chris Woakes claimed 6/70. The hosts were bundled out for 272 runs with the leg spinner, Yasir Shah, returning with 6/72 in his 29 overs.

The tourists couldn’t do much well with the bat and were folded up for 215 runs in their second innings as Woakes collected his second fifer of the game, returning with 5/32 in the second innings. In reply, England were done and dusted for 207 runs and lost the game by 75 runs as Yasir added four more wickets to his tally.

In the first innings of the 2026 Test at Lord’s, the home side was bundled out for 290 runs as Mohammad Abbas picked up four wickets for his 73 runs in 20 overs. The visitors continued their nightmarish batting in the series and were bundled out for 110 runs in just 37.2 overs.

Abbas has been fantastic with the red ball for the national side and the domestic team at Lord’s, but he was not able to get his fifer at the venue for Pakistan. However, the dream was finally fulfilled in the second innings when he returned with figures of 5/57 in 22 overs, including three maidens.
