India has been in a superb mood after qualifying for the Super 4 stage of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, having already gained two victories in as many clashes of the tournament at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium against the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan. In both games, they were clinical in all three formats.
However, they will need to fly to the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi for their last group-stage clash against Oman, for which the conditions will be a tad different. The boundaries dimension will be a little new as Indian players, including captain Suryakumar Yadav and vice-captain Abhishek Sharma, turned up for practice at the ICC academy.

The other Indian players, especially those who didn’t feature in the first two clashes of the event, including Rinku Singh and Harshit Rana, were also present on the ground for the practice. Gill was mostly practicing against the short balls in the nets, which could be his early preparation for the Super 4 stage of the competition.

In the opening game of the tournament, Kuldeep Yadav picked up four wickets in the first against the Muhammed Waseem-led side. Apart from the left-arm wrist spinner’s fine figures of 4/7 in 2.1 overs, Shivam Dube picked up three wickets to bundle out the UAE side for 57 runs in just 13.1 overs.
In reply, Abhishek Sharma clubbed 30 runs in just 16 balls at a strike rate of 187.50, thanks to three over boundaries and two fours, while Shubman Gill creamed an unbeaten 20 runs in nine deliveries at a strike rate of 222.2 as they chased down the target by nine wickets with 93 balls to spare.
Kuldeep continued the same flow against Pakistan with four wickets, while Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel also contributed with wickets in the innings to restrict Pakistan to 127/9 in their 20 overs. In the chase, Abhishek continued the same aggressive batting while Suryakumar Yadav remained unbeaten on 47 runs in 37 balls to take them home by seven wickets.
