[WATCH] Suryakumar Yadav smashes Nathan Ellis for superb 6 during AUS vs IND 1st T20I
Watch the video where the right-handed batter and the T20I captain of India, Suryakumar Yadav, smashed Nathan Ellis for a massive six during the first T20I against Australia at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.

The opening T20I of the five-match series between Australia and India at the Manuka Oval in Canberra was perhaps the bigger challenge for the Blue Brigade than the Asia Cup 2025, ahead of the upcoming Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka. They needed to bat a settled batting line-up ahead of their title defense under Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy.
Suryakumar Yadav didn’t look in great touch with an average of 18 and a strike rate of just over 100 during the Asia Cup. But he had a chance to turn the tables during this ongoing series down under. After a flying start from their openers, Suryakumar Yadav and Abhishek Sharma, Sky entered the middle with an aggressive approach and started with a six.

But the best shot he played in the game was what turned out to be the penultimate ball of the innings. The right-handed batter picked the slower ball from Nathan Ellis and used his backhand to delay the shot and muscled it over the mid-wicket region for a huge over boundary.

Australia’s captain, Mitchell Marsh, continued his love affair with the coin as he won another toss of the series and opted to bowl first without any hesitation. They decided to leave out their aggressive and firing pacer, Sean Abbott, from the playing eleven for Josh Hazlewood, who would remain with the team only for the first two games.
India made a great start with the bat in the first innings, thanks to their 35-run opening stand in less than four overs. Suryakumar Yadav punched a huge six over the middle and leg stump as he timed the flick and sent the ball sailing over the deep square leg fence for a six.
The first rain break reduced the game to 18 overs per side, but the second one was enough to spoil the party. Not much time was available for the game to restart, as the umpires called the game off with just 9.4 overs being possible in an entertaining game.
