In a close encounter between India and Bangladesh at the Under-19 World Cup 2026 at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, India’s upcoming star, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, impressed with a sensational catch to dismiss Samiun Basir Ratul on two runs in the bowling of Vihaan Malhotra, which pushed the momentum in India’s favor after rain curtailed the encounter.

It was a well-timed chip drive from the batter as it nearly soared over the long run region where the Indian opening batter, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, was just in front of the ropes and took the catch sideways, but the question was whether his left leg then touched the advertisement board. He realized it as well and locked the ball up before going out and coming back to claim the rebound.

This was a massive decision from the 3rd umpire, who took several looks at it and finally gave the decision in India’s favor. The Indian side was up in joy as a celebration told the story of how the big wicked nearly took them over the line in the game.

Earlier in the game, Vaibhav Surya Manchi smashed a fine knockoff 72 runs in 67 deliveries at a strike rate of more than 100 with the help of six boundaries and three sixes as his knock set the platform for the Blue Brigade as he put up a partnership 62 runs for the 4th wicket with a weekend Kundu who drilled 80 shouldering on four boundaries and three sixes.

However, apart from those two, the other Indian batters struggled to get their hitting as they got bundled out for 238 runs in 48.4 overs, with Al Fahad celebrating his five-wicket haul in 9.2 overs at an economic rate of just over four.

The rain brought down the target to 165 for Bangladesh in 29 overs before they got bundled out for 146 with their number three batter, Hakim Tamim, smashing 51 runs in 72 balls, but that was not enough to chase down the target, as Malhotra ended with 4/14.

Brief Scores: India U19 238 (Abigyan Kundu 80, Vaibhav Suryavanshi 72, Al Fahad 5/38) beat Bangaldesh U19 146 (Hakim Tamim 51, Vihaan Malhotra 4/14) by 18 runs (DLS).
