WC 2023 Points Table Update: South Africa beat England by 229 runs

England’s massive loss to South Africa helped the Proteas win their third match of the World Cup 2023. On the other hand, the defending champions are now just above the bottom-placed team Afghanistan on the Points Table.

South Africa started their batting with an early blow as they lost Quinton de Kock for just 4. But the top and middle-order put up a strong performance to set a target of 400 runs for England. Reeza Hendricks scored 85 runs while Rassie van der Dussen added 60 and Aiden Markram contributed with 42. Later Macro Jansen added an unbeaten 75 off 42 runs but the hero of the innings was Heinrich Klassen. His 109 off 67 took England score to 399/7. In response, England could score just 170 runs in 22 overs with Mark Wood topping with 17-ball 43*.

Updated Points Table

New Zealand are continuing to lead the table as India are standing in second. The next World Cup match between the top two teams will be interesting.
