'We'll see him...' - Mike Hussey opens up on Kartik Sharma's future with CSK amidst ongoing IPL 2026
Mike Hussey shares insights on Kartik Sharma’s future with Chennai Super Kings amid IPL 2026, hinting at what lies ahead.

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are one of the most successful teams in IPL history. They are known for retaining their players and backing them. Until the previous season, CSK had more experienced players on their side who had played tons of T20 leagues throughout the world. But they made a brilliant change in their strategy by making their core squad around uncapped players.
However, it's not going good for them as the Super Kings are stuck at six points. They have won just three out of eight games and one more loss could push them out of the league. CSK will play their next match against the Mumbai Indians(MI) today at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The last match went in the Super Kings' favor and they will hope to have the same results today as well.

Mike Hussey opens up on Kartik Sharma's future for CSK
CSK's batting coach Mike Hussey opened up about how important Kartik Sharma has been for the team. The newcomer made his debut in this season for the Super Kings and has performed decently in the tournament as well. He has continued to perform at a steady rate, which has helped the team in the middle overs. Hence, Hussey is hopeful that Kartik will be there for the team for the next 5-10 years.
"He (Kartik) is a great talent. Hopefully we'll see him at CSK for next 5–10 years. He's ambitious and wants to do well. We'd love to watch him really grow into that CSK shirt," he added.

It’s quite a new team: Mike Hussey
Mike Hussey also spoke about how the players are comparatively new and need time to settle down. CSK have struggled with the bat as the openers have not performed. However, they still have a solid playing XI, and if all the players play as per their potential, CSK will be unbeaten. From here on, CSK have to win six games and qualify for the playoffs. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson will have a lot of responsibilities on them.
"In a lot of ways, it’s quite a new team. You know, there’s quite a few new players there that have come in, some good young talent that we want to expose to some games as well. Ideally speaking, we’d love to settle on an 11 or a 12 that we’re very comfortable with and then just sort of let those guys really grow into their roles. So hopefully, we can string a bit of form together, and then hopefully we’ll have that confidence to stick with that same sort of team moving through," said Mike Hussey.
