India women’s opening batter and their vice-captain, Smriti Mandhana, was set to tie the knot with the famous Bollywood music composer, Palash Muchhal, in Sangli on November 23. The preparation was in full swing with many Indian cricketers joining them in various rituals of the wedding ceremony. They also played a friendly game among themselves to enjoy the moment.

The celebrations came to an abrupt halt on the morning of November 23 when Smriti’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, suddenly fell ill during breakfast. What was initially thought to be a minor health issue escalated and forced the family to rush him to the nearby hospital, where the doctors are currently monitoring the condition closely. Her father’s health was a priority as Smriti decided to postpone the wedding.

“Srinivas Manandana, Smriti Manandana's father, experienced symptoms of a heart attack around 11:30 after feeling left-sided chest pain. He was immediately transferred to Sarvhit Hospital and Medical Research Centre in Sangli for further assessment. Despite his slightly raised cardiac enzymes, he requires ongoing observation. Our cardiologist, Dr. Rohan Thanedar, has examined him as well.Dr. Naman Shah expressed in a statement.

Smriti Mandhana deleted all wedding photos from her Instagram profile

Just 24 hours after that incident, Mandhana’s father was hospitalized due to a sudden health issue, leading to the wedding being postponed. Palash was also admitted to the hospital in Sangli as his mother shared details of the sudden health scare.

“Palash is extremely attached to Smriti’s father. The two of them are even closer than Smriti is with him. When he fell ill, it was Palash, before Smriti, who decided that they should not go ahead with the wedding rituals until he got better. He cried so much that his health suddenly deteriorated. They kept him in the hospital for four hours. He was given an IV drip, an ECG was done, and other tests were carried out.Palash’s mother gave an update.

Perhaps due to the tough conditions, Mandhana decided to delete all the pictures of his wedding ceremony from his Instagram profile. But Palash’s mother confirmed that the wedding would definitely happen once everyone’s health is settled.
