Another defeat for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2026. Three defeats in 4 matches. With only one point from a washed-out match, the team is currently in 9th place in the 10-team league. Last night (April 9), KKR got defeated by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Mukul Choudhary single-handedly took the game from the Knight Riders.

After the IPL 2026 players’ auction, the team, which was looking promising enough on paper to go for another title, was brutally hit by multiple injury issues. Some of their key players, including Harshit Rana, have been ruled out of the IPL 2026 season because of injury.

Latest updates arrived on Harshit Rana

A latest report has arrived regarding Harshit Rana. The pace bowling all-rounder has started the rehab process at the Center of Excellence (COE). A photo of Harshit Rana at the COE has recently been shared on social media platforms.

Rana has been ruled out of IPL 2026 and the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 due to a serious knee injury requiring surgery on February 9, 2026. The 24-year-old pacer sustained the injury during a warm-up match. He was seen using crutches as well. KKR replaced Rana with an Indian pacer, Navdeep Saini, for the ongoing 2026 season.

In the previous home match of the Kolkata Knight Riders, the all-rounder was in Kolkata to support the team. However, the match between the Knight Riders and the Punjab Kings had to be called off because of heavy rain on April 6. As per IPL rules, both teams got 1 point each as the match was abandoned.

Is Rana set to join KKR soon for the IPL 2026 season?

Will Harshit Rana be able to join the team in the middle of the IPL 2026 campaign? A few days ago, when the Team India star arrived in Kolkata, the question was raised. But, it is clearly informed earlier that the pace bowling all-rounder has no chance to play this year’s Indian Premier League.

There is no second opinion that without Harshit Rana and some of the other key players like Matheesha Pathirana, Akash Deep, the bowling line-up of KKR has been struggling from the beginning. Pacers like Kartik Tyagi, Navdeep Saini, and Vaibhav Arora are promising, but not enough to carry the team throughout the campaign.

KKR’s spin bowling department, which was considered one of the best in the tournament, also provided subpar results in this season. Varun Chakravarthy is going through a bad patch and missed a couple of matches because of an injury. Sunil Narine, one of the most successful and impactful spinners in the format, well over his prime.

Kolkata Knight Riders’ next IPL 2026 match will be against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 14 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk. Like KKR, CSK is yet to get its first win in the ongoing season. As of now, KKR is placed at number 9, and CSK at number 10 of the IPL 2026 points table.
