Will Rohit Sharma play GT vs MI clash in IPL 2026? Latest fitness update revealed
There are concerns and questions on whether Rohit Sharma would feature in the Indian Premier League 2026 clash between the Mumbai Indians and the Gujarat Titans.

Rohit Sharma, the former captain of the Mumbai Indians from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, didn’t feature in the previous clash for the Mumbai Indians (MI) against the Punjab Kings at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. And there is no guarantee of him featuring in the next contest against the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The right-handed opener picked up a hamstring injury while being part of the chase against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He smashed Jacob Duffy for a massive six into the stands before struggling to complete a single as he hobbled from one end to the other. The veteran also received medical treatment in the process.

Hardik Pandya, the captain of the Mumbai franchise, during the toss of the previous encounter, stated that Rohit Sharma would remain unavailable for the next few days as he continues to recover from the injury. His availability for the Gujarat game isn’t confirmed.
The reports claimed that the 38-year-old would be travelling to Narendra Modi Stadium much earlier with the team to assess his fitness. Any hamstring issue generally takes eight days to heal fully, and there is a very bleak chance of him playing against the Shubman Gill-led side.
The Nagpur-born seemed to be fine for much of the game against RCB and fielded the entirety of the fixture. The right-handed opener, who has smashed overall 7183 runs in 271 innings of the IPL at an average of nearly 30 and a strike rate of 132.60 with 48 half-centuries and two centuries, started the campaign strongly.

The 2020 champions have made an underwhelming start to the edition. While they broke the 13-year winless run in the season-opener against the Kolkata Knight Riders before experiencing four successive defeats in the fixtures, the run has left them in last position of the points table.
After the GT clash, Mumbai will head home for the next game against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who will later host the arch-rivals on May 02 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. They need to earn six of the last nine games to have a chance of qualification.
