In a major development, Pakistan batter Sidra Amin has been sanctioned for the infraction of the ICC Code of Conduct during the Women’s World Cup 2025 match against India on October 5, 2025. The 33-year-old cricketer was charged with a Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which pertains to the “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.”

As per ICC regulations, Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50% of the player’s match fee along with the addition of one or two demerit points. The incident took place in the 40th over of Pakistan’s innings, when Sidra, after being dismissed, hit her bat forcefully onto the pitch in frustration.
Her actions were deemed a violation of the sport’s spirit and the conduct standards.

One demerit point has been added to Sidra’s disciplinary record, marking her first offence within a 24-month period. The charge was brought forward by on-field umpires Lauren Agenbag and Nimali Perera, third umpire Kerrin Klaaste, and fourth umpire Kim Cotton.

Star performer despite Pakistan’s defeat

Despite the disciplinary issue, Sidra Amin stood out as Pakistan’s top performer with the bat. She scored a brilliant 81 runs off 106 balls, hitting nine fours and one six during the innings. However, her fine effort went in vain as Pakistan Women suffered an 88-run loss against India Women at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.
