Women's Asia Cup 2026 schedule & venue out — Is another IND vs PAK blockbuster happening?

The Women’s Asia Cup 2026 is likely to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) towards the end of August and run till the middle of September. The eight-team competition hasn’t been formally announced by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). However, all the participating teams have been told to be prepared for the dates. 

The report has claimed that the ACC chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, and his team are yet to confirm the dates and venues for the Women’s Asia Cup 2026, which is anticipated to produce some nail-biting encounters.

Tentative dates: August 28 to September 13; teams set to arrive in the UAE by August 27

The 2026 edition will be the sixth season of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup, featuring the defending champions Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, and the hosts- the United Arab Emirates (UAE). 

The report has claimed that the ACC had informed the teams in an email on July 22 that the venue was being finalised. It also added that the countries have been waiting for the final schedule to complete their travel and logistical arrangements. That means another clash between India and Pakistan could be on the cards after the T20 World Cup 2026 event, that took place at Edgbaston.

On August 2, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declared India’s side before deleting the post as the ACC hadn’t unveiled the competition. Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Bharti Fulmali, Richa Ghosh, and multiple other stars were retained in the same team for the event. 

Shreyanka Patil has missed out as she continues to recover from the ankle ligament injury that ruled him out of the T20 World Cup 2026 in England and Wales. Prema Rawat, meanwhile, has retained her place in the squad.

India women played the first semifinal of the World Cup against Bangladesh at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium. Thanks to a couple of three-wicket hauls from Radha Yadav and Renuka Singh, the Nigar Sultana-led side was reduced to 80/8 in their allotted 20 overs. 

The blue brigade completed the chase by 10 wickets with nine overs to spare, with Smriti Mandhana nailing an unbeaten knock of 55 runs in 39 balls at a strike rate of 141.03, thanks to nine boundaries and one six.

In the final, India were restricted to 165/6 in their allotted 20 overs, as Mandhana clubbed 60 runs off 47 balls, thanks to 10 boundaries, while Richa Ghosh dashed 30 runs in 14 balls at a strike rate of 214.29. The two half-centuries from Chamari Athapaththu and Harshita Samarawickrama completed Sri Lanka’s chase by eight wickets to win the championship.
