The left-handed opening batter for the Indian side, Yashasvi Jaiswal, has broken his silence on his heated altercation with the pacer Asitha Fernando after his dismissal in the first session of the second Test against Sri Lanka at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. Jaiswal failed to celebrate his fifty despite getting so near to the landmark.

India finished the day with 300 runs on the board for the loss of five wickets as Devdutt Padikkal smashed a dashing knock of 117 runs off 193 balls with the help of 12 boundaries while their captain, Shubman Gill, nailed 50 runs off 108 balls, shouldering on six boundaries.

Jaiswal sends a defiant message after his fiery clash with Asitha Fernando goes viral

The Indian opening batter has responded after Cricbuzz put a question on Instagram about whether he had ‘crossed the line’ during the confrontation. He claimed that this new Indian side would always know how to fight and give a reply.

“If you don’t know what he said, then please don’t make your judgment. If anyone crosses the line, we need to let them know that India will fight and reply.” Jaiswal said on the incident as a reply to Cricbuzz’s Instagram post.

Earlier in the opening game at the Galle Cricket Club, Jaiswal sledged the Sri Lankan wicketkeeper, Niroshan Dickwella, who lost his concentration in the middle with the bat and went back to the dressing room in the fourth innings to smooth India’s chances of winning the opening game.

On the second ball of the 17th over of the innings, the Indian batter brought his bat down in time against a Fernando delivery that swung back. He creamed it past the non-striker with a fine drive for a boundary. Two balls later, he guided the ball over the slip fielder for a boundary. It was followed by another boundary on the backward square leg fence.

But the pacer replied with the wicket of the southpaw, who went for a drive on the back foot and ended up getting an inside edge onto the stumps. As he headed back to the dressing room, a few words were exchanged.
