Watch: Yashasvi Jaiswal-Asitha Fernando engaged in heated argument in SL vs IND 2nd Test
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Asitha Fernando were involved in a heated on-field exchange as Sri Lanka sent back both India openers during the SL vs IND 2nd Test at the SSC Ground in Colombo

Just moments after Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed by a decent delivery from Asitha Fernando for 45 on the opening day of the second Test between Sri Lanka and India at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) in Colombo, both were engaged in a heated argument.
India came into this contest on the back of their massive 165-run victory, showing pure dominance with the bat and ball in the opening encounter at the Galle Cricket Ground. The second red-ball contest would have been very important for the side to keep them alive for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025/27 final qualification.
Jaiswal and Asitha Fernando exchange words in a tense on-field standoff at the SSC ground
On the second ball of the 17th over of the innings, Jaiswal brought his bat down in time against a ball from Asitha Fernando that swung back. The batter creamed it right past the non-striker with a beautiful drive as the non-striker managed to stay out of its way as the ball found the boundary.

Two balls later, Fernando went with a short ball outside the off stump and offered plenty of width as Jaiswal didn’t miss out and simply guided it over the slip fielder for a boundary. He followed it with another boundary, pulling it away to the deep backward square leg fence.
However, the Sri Lankan pacer replied with the wicket of Jaiswal to end the over. The southpaw went for a drive on the back foot and ended up getting an inside edge on the stumps. As he was heading back to the pavilion, a few words were exchanged with Jaiswal, who came head-to-head with the bowler.

Winning the toss, India’s captain, Shubman Gill, had no hesitation in batting first on a surface which had a few cracks from the very first day of the game. KL Rahul started well but went after a very short delivery to get an outside edge into the hands of the wicketkeeper.
