The Indian spin all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh, has shared a heartfelt and playful message on social media to celebrate his mentee Abhishek Sharma’s birthday on September 04. He posted warm greetings on his official Instagram page, sharing a few clips from the growth of the dedicated player.

Abhishek is currently featuring in the Shere-e-Punjab 2026, where he is showing his aggressive batting at the opening position. He recently struggled in the last two T20I series against Zimbabwe and England. Out of the last five innings, the southpaw managed only 30 runs at an average of six.

Yuvraj shared a video and many photographs accompanied by a message that is a testament to Abhishek’s development as a player. The video highlights the camaraderie between the two, showing Yuvraj making Abhishek perform sit-ups while holding his ears as a punishment for playing rash shots.

Abhishek was made to pledge not to repeat the same mistakes. His elder sister, Komal Sharma, also conveyed birthday wishes through Instagram as she described him as ‘the best brother.’

“I love you more than words can ever explain. Your sister has loved you the most since you were a little kid, and I think that love has only grown stronger with every passing year. You deserve all the happiness, success, health, wealth, and love in the world because you truly are the best brother and the best son anyone could ever ask for.” She added.

How Abhishek Sharma has performed for India in T20Is

Abhishek Sharma has been one of the most successful players for India in the shortest format, as he achieved the highest individual T20I score of unbeaten 135 runs off 54 balls against England and holds the record of the second-highest individual IPL score by an Indian batter, including the 141 off 55 balls against the Punjab Kings.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) star became the first Indian batter to hit 100 sixes in T20 cricket in 2025 within a calendar year and reached 100 sixes in the T20Is faster than any other player based on the balls faced.

Till now, he has collected 1629 runs in 55 innings of the T20Is for India at an average of 30.73 and a blistering strike rate of 187.24, thanks to 11 fifties and two centuries. In the IPL, he has slammed 2379 runs in 89 innings at a strike rate of 171.29, with 13 half-centuries and a couple of centuries.
