Sikandar Raza is Zimbabwe’s man at the moment. Not many would have expected Zimbabwe to beat Bangladesh after Bangladesh beat South Africa and West Indies in their respective homes. To do so while chasing two stiff targets is another thing not many would have expected. Sikandar Raza though, with consecutive centuries has made the unthinkable happen. He along with captain Chakabva, who scored his own century, fired Zimbabwe to a five wicket win.

Zimbabwe complete a rare series win.

Both batters batted with a calculative approach, while Sikandar Raza also contributed three wickets with the ball. The end came rather quickly, despite Chakabva getting out with 40 odd runs to get. For Bangladesh, the loss is going to be a tough one to swallow. They pride themselves on their ODI results. After beating South Africa and West Indies away from home, this is definitely going to be a bitter one to swallow. Their fielding though is a huge concern, Both games had a lot of catches dropped, allowing Zimbabwe to bat longer, making it easier for the batters.

The fielding was sloppy throughout, and despite some good balls Bangladesh failed to put pressure. Zimbabwe were unfazed throughout as they never let the required rate go past 7.5. They were smart and swift with their innings. Bangladesh started well and had chances to dominate few times with the bat. Tamim Iqbal started strong with his 50 while the middle order all got starts. Mahmudullah helped get a strong finish as well, but regular wickets and the lack of a long innings helped Zimbabwe stay in the game.

The win will give Zimbabwe a lot to be happy about. They beat a decent ODI unit in times that have been very tough for them. The tour has been a good one. Zimbabwe will carry a lot of confidence when they face India later this month. Bangladesh though will have to look at their side as they have some concerns with their young players, and the absence of Shakib Al Hasan.
