4. Kapil Dev (England vs India, 1st Test, June 5–10, 1986)

Kapil Dev became the first Indian captain to lead the team to a Test victory at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground. Under his captaincy, India defeated England by five wickets in the first Test of the three-match series, played from June 5 to 10, 1986. The historic win was India's first-ever Test victory at Lord's and remains one of the most memorable moments in Indian cricket history.

England scored 294 runs in the first innings, with Graham Gooch making 114. India replied with 341 runs, thanks to Dilip Vengsarkar's unbeaten 126, which gave the visitors a crucial 47-run first-innings lead. In England's second innings, Kapil Dev produced a brilliant spell of 4/52, while Maninder Singh picked up 3/9 to bowl the hosts out for 180.

Chasing a target of 134, India reached 136/5 in 42 overs to seal a famous five-wicket victory. Kapil Dev also played a quick unbeaten knock of 23 off just 10 balls and hit the winning six to finish the match in style. His all-round performance earned him the Player of the Match award as India went on to win the series 2-0, their biggest Test series triumph in England at that time.

3. MS Dhoni (England vs India, 2nd Test, July 17–21, 2014)

MS Dhoni became the second Indian captain to win a Test match at Lord's after leading India to a memorable 95-run victory over England in the second Test of the five-match series in 2014. It was India's first Test win at the iconic venue in 28 years and one of the finest overseas victories under Dhoni's captaincy.

India scored 295 runs in the first innings, with Ajinkya Rahane playing a brilliant knock of 103. England replied with 319 runs to take a 24-run lead despite Bhuvneshwar Kumar's impressive figures of 6/82. In the second innings, India bounced back strongly by posting 342 runs, thanks to important contributions from Murali Vijay (95) and Ravindra Jadeja (68), setting England a target of 319 runs.

In the second innings, India declared at 298/8 after brilliant unbeaten half-centuries from Mohammed Shami (56*) and Jasprit Bumrah (34*), setting England a target of 272 runs.

The Indian bowlers then produced a sensational display as England were bowled out for just 120 runs in 51.5 overs. Mohammed Siraj starred with figures of 4/32, while Jasprit Bumrah claimed 3/33 to seal a dominant 151-run victory. Harmanpreet Kaur became the first Indian women's captain to win a Test match at Lord's after leading India to a historic 270-run victory over England in the one-off Test in 2026. It was the first-ever women's Test played at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground, making the victory even more special. The win also became India's fourth Test victory over England in women's cricket and their ninth Test win overall.

India scored 285 runs in the first innings, with Smriti Mandhana making 83 and Harmanpreet Kaur adding 58. In reply, England were bowled out for 170 as Kranti Gaud produced a brilliant spell of 5/37 to give India a commanding 115-run lead. In the second innings, Yastika Bhatia starred with a superb 113, while Smriti Mandhana scored 70 to help India declare at 341/7 and set England a challenging target of 457.

The Indian bowlers completed the job in style by bowling England out for 186. Sneh Rana led the attack with figures of 4/42, while Kranti Gaud picked up two more wickets to finish the match with seven wickets.
