The strike rates are always vital in the shortest format of the game, and in the T20 World Cup 2026, they remain one of the vital aspects of the game. But there are a few players who struggle to get going from the start of their innings and fail to hit boundaries and over boundaries regularly.

One of the batters in the modern generation, despite being the highest run-getter of the shortest format, to be slow in terms of strike rate is the former captain of the Pakistan side, Babar Azam, who continued his struggling form in the first two games of the T20 WC 2026 against the Netherlands and the United States of America (USA).

Let’s take a look at the players with lowest strike rate in T20 World Cups ft. Babar Azam.

1.   Babar Azam (Pakistan)

Babar Azam has a strike rate of 110.4 in the history of the ICC T20 World Cups. Overall, he has more than 4500 runs in the shortest format of the game. The right-handed batter averages 39.30 at a strike rate of 128.15 for Pakistan in his overall T 20 career for his three centuries and 30 and a half centuries.

Against the USA in the recent game, Babar smashed a strong knock of 46 runs in 32 deliveries with the help of four boundaries and one six at a strike rate of more than 140. However, he starts slowly and tends to get dismissed on several occasions.

2.   Mohammad Hafeez (Pakistan)

Another player with a low strike rate in the history of the T20 World Cups is the former Pakistan captain and another spin allrounder, Mohammad Hafeez, who has a strike rate of 111.80 in this prospect. The 45-year-old has overall scored two 514 runs in the T20 cricket at a strike rate of 122.03.

The right-handed batter has an average of 26.46 for his 14 half-centuries, as his T20 strike rate doesn’t cross 125, which does not give a bright picture of his shortest format career, as he retired from the game in 2023.

3.   Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka)

Despite bringing a renowned player and a former T20 World Cup-winning member of the Sri Lanka side in the 2014 season in Bangladesh, the left-handed wicket-keeper batter of the Sri Lanka side, Kumar Sangakkara, has struggled in the T20 World Cup with a strike rate of 112.2.

He overall finished with 1382 runs in 53 T20I innings at an average of over 31 and a strike rate of less than 120, with the help of eight half-centuries at the best score of 78 runs.

4.   Kane Williamson (New Zealand)

The former New Zealand captain, Kane Williamson, who retired from the shortest format in international cricket after the end of the last T20 World Cup in 2024 at a strike rate of 112.5 in the T20 World Cups, which is not a record for a modern great.

In his career of T20I innings, the right-handed batter ended up with 2575 runs at an average of 33.44 and a strike rate of just over 120 with the help of eighteen half-centuries.

5.   Mohammad Rizwan (Pakistan)

The former captain of the Pakistan side, Mohammad Rizwan, who has faced a lot of criticism for playing slowly in the shortest format, claims the fifth spot in the list with a strike rate of 112.9 in the T20 World Cup history, as he has been ignored for this edition of the tournament by the national side.

Rizwan has scored 3414 runs in 93 T20I innings at an average of 47.41 and a strike rate of just over 125 with the help of one century and thirty half-centuries.
