The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 started on February 7. There are 20 teams in four groups. From the start, the tournament gave little room for mistakes. Only eight teams move on to the Super Eight stage. Batters had to play well in every game, not just in some matches. The conditions also made it harder.

The tournament has been very exciting. There were close matches, tense chases, and smaller teams giving big teams a tough fight. In these thrilling games, the top three run-getters were special. They scored a lot of runs, but also played smart. They understood the conditions, controlled the game, and built their innings even when it was not easy to score.

3. Kusal Mendis (Sri Lanka) – 182 runs

Kusal Mendis

Kusal Mendis scored 182 runs in four matches and four innings. His average was 60.67 and his strike rate was 124.66. He hit 18 fours and 1 six. Mendis showed how well Sri Lanka’s batters used the home conditions. The team focused on patience, rotating the strike, and choosing shots carefully rather than just hitting big.

He started the tournament well with three half-centuries against Oman, Ireland, and Australia. He kept the innings steady when scoring was difficult. He did not try to hit too fast but worked the field and used smart shots to keep runs coming.

2. Pathum Nissanka (Sri Lanka) – 199 runs

Pathum Nissanka

Pathum Nissanka scored 199 runs in four matches and four innings. His average was 66.33, and his strike rate was 156.69. He hit 21 fours and 6 sixes. Nissanka played one of the best innings of the tournament, scoring 100 runs off 52 balls against Australia. He controlled the power play and adjusted when the pitch slowed down.

He used home conditions very well. Nissanka scored fast in the power play and kept Sri Lanka ahead. He played smart shots and helped his team move easily into the Super Eights stage.

1. Sahibzada Farhan (Pakistan) – 220 runs

Sahibzada Farhan

Sahibzada Farhan scored the most runs in the group stage with 220 runs in four games. His average was 73.33, and his strike rate was 164.18. He hit 21 fours and 11 sixes. All Pakistan matches were in Sri Lanka, where pitches slowed, and spinners were strong. Farhan played well by reading the ball and not forcing shots.

He failed only once against India. His best innings was against Namibia, where he scored a T20 World Cup hundred. He batted patiently at first, then hit faster. He stayed in control against spin and pace. His clear plan helped him keep a high strike rate even on tough pitches.
