Sanjiv Goenka-owned Manchester Super Giants have unexpectedly become the subject of online jokes following the launch of their new jersey for the Hundred 2026 season. The franchise, previously known as Manchester Originals, unveiled a red-and-blue kit inspired by Manchester's football culture, combining the iconic colours associated with Manchester United and Manchester City. The jersey reveal was accompanied by a 53-second promotional video featuring stars such as Jos Buttler, Sophie Ecclestone, and Aiden Markram. However, instead of focusing on the new design, fans quickly noticed several unusual moments in the clip. One sequence appeared to show Markram bowling without a ball before running in the opposite direction, leaving viewers confused. The video drew further criticism for a series of strange visual inconsistencies, including players seemingly changing kits mid-action and a wicketkeeper making an unrealistic sideways dive to complete a catch. These odd scenes sparked widespread reactions on social media, turning the launch video into a viral talking point and overshadowing the franchise's new-look jersey. Although the video features several international cricket stars, fans were left puzzled by multiple AI-generated sequences that appeared unrealistic. In one scene, South Africa's T20 captain Aiden Markram, primarily a batter and part-time spinner, is shown charging in with a fast bowler's run-up despite not having a ball in his hand.
