Chennai previously produced two final-ball thrillers

It will be the third T20I at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai. Both the previous Chepauk T20Is were decided on the last ball of the match. After the Blackcaps scored 167/5, India replied with 166/4, as India failed to score four runs on the final ball.

In November 2018, India beat West Indies by six wickets at this venue after chasing the 182-run target with a match-winning single on the last ball of the match.
