Chennai starts a run of home games with a defeat. Their previous defeat will be particularly demoralizing, considering how the game went. The bowling attack looked clueless and dead after commanding the game with the bat. Chahar, had a decent spell but continues to look like a shadow of himself with the ball and has been poor in the field. Mustafizur Rahman and Shardul Thakur looked lost in the death as well while the spinners, with dew and not much purchase in Chennai, surprisingly, are struggling to make an impact.
The lack of impact from their spinners, in particular, is a considerable concern, and that has made the bowling attack look all the more clueless as Chennai struggles to upgrade themselves with the changing demands of the season. Hyderabad is coming in after a loss to, but the loss seems more like a bad day rather than a concern. Their depth looks pretty good, and the head-to-heads for the upcoming game strongly favor Hyderabad, particularly with Chepauk looking flat.
Can Pat Cummins silence Chepauk? He couldn’t be back in October but could back himself this time with the batting line-up likely to bounce back after an off-day. They have a toothless new-ball bowling line-up against them to make their task easier, as Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma are likely to make things look easy against the medium-pace of Deepak Chahar and Tushar Deshpande.
Date: April 28th, 2023

Venue: MA Chidhambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai
Humidity and some dew are expected through the course of the evening.

Chepauk was deceiving in the previous game. The track looked seemingly hard but their was a lot of turn and grip through the game. Chepauk now looks more like its traditional self with the ball slowing down as the innings progresses and batting first is a better choice as a result.

Deepak Chahar
Deepak Chahar has been the missing piece for CSK so far. His swing and early wickets are missing, and that has caused enormous concerns for them. He has looked clueless both with the ball and in the field, and the Super Kings are struggling to penetrate in the powerplay as a result and have been losing games within the first six overs.
Travis Head
Travis Head could come out looking a lot more menacing in the upcoming game. He’s had his off-day, and will be waiting to bounce back. Chennai’s pitch has been pretty flat as well and with the CSK bowlers lacking bite Travis Head will be eager to take the game away from Chennai and silence the crowd as soon as possible.

Heinrich Klaasen vs. Ravindra Jadeja: Klaasen loves to spin, batting tracks, and clearing the fence. If there is one player, though, with the slightest of chances of challenging Klaasen, it is Jadeja. He got Klaasen in the World Cup, but Klaasen, coming off a bad game, is likely to bounce back strongly and could enjoy Jadeja’s bowling.
While SRH are coming in with the odds stacked towards them it is a home game for Chennai. Chepauk remains a fortress and despite the odds CSK will come out hoping to sneak their way through. SRH are favorites, but CSK will be sniffing for a chance at home.
