New Zealand’s veteran batter and former captain, Suzie Bates, sits at the top of the all-time run-scoring table in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The right-handed batter has smashed a total of 1216 runs across the nine editions of the competition, a tally which no batter has been able to match. Apart from her, two other batters, West Indies’ Stafanie Taylor and the Australian wicket-keeper batter, Alyssa Healy, have more than 1000 runs in the Women’s T20 World Cup.

Three Australian players feature in the top 10, which highlights the dominance of the side in the shortest format over the years. There are two players from the New Zealand side, while two from the West Indies also make the cut.

Only Meg Lanning, Deandra Dottin, and Harmanpreet Kaur have scored centuries in the list. This shows how rare the three-figure marks are in the T20 World Cup history in women’s cricket. Among those who have scored at least 500 runs in the history of the event, Healy has the best strike rate of 129.39 in 39 innings.

India’s captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, is the tenth leading run-getter on the list with 726 runs in 33 innings, equaling Mitali Raj in just 23 innings. Those two are the only players from the country to feature in the list among the top 15.

From Bates to Devine: Who tops the all-time runs chart in Women's T20 World Cup and how far ahead are they?

Here are the top five leading run-getters of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup history before the 2026 season, which begins on June 12 between England and Sri Lanka at Edgbaston in Birmingham-

#1 Suzie Bates (New Zealand) — 1,216 Runs in Women's T20 World Cup

Playing in all nine seasons of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, the former captain of the New Zealand side, Suzie Bates, has defined consistency. She holds the record for the most runs of the event with 1216 runs across 42 innings at an average of 31.17 and a decent strike rate of 111.05, thanks to eight half-centuries, which is the most among the top 10 players on the list.

The Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 will be her last as she has announced her retirement from international cricket after this competition. The second most capped player with 182 WT20Is, Bates played a vital role in winning the title for the White Ferns in the 2024 edition of the T20 World Cup.

She managed 150 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 119.04 at the best score of 32 runs as they beat South Africa in the final. The ace player will hope for another strong event with the bat to win successive titles for the country.

Bates is currently the leading run-getter of the WT20Is with 4717 runs in 175 innings at an average of 28.93 and a strike rate of 108.56, having scored 28 half-centuries and one century at the best score of unbeaten 124 runs.

#2 Stafanie Taylor (West Indies) — 1,014 Runs in Women's T20 World Cup

West Indies’ Stafanie Taylor is in second position in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. She has piled up 1014 runs in 35 innings at an average of 37.55 and a strike rate of 94.67, notching six half-centuries at the best score of 59 runs. Being one of the best all-rounders of women’s cricket, she has delivered with both the bat and ball on the biggest stage.

When the Caribbean side won the 2016 season of the competition in India, Taylor played a starring role. She clubbed 246 runs in six innings at an average of 41 and a strike rate of 93.18 with one half-century.

Taylor’s calm approach made her the backbone of her side in the batting order for more than a decade as he covers the consistency rather than an explosive mindset.

The veteran is the West Indies’ leading run-getter in the T20I format of women’s cricket with 3518 runs in 128 innings at an average of 34.15 and a strike rate of 99.65, thanks to 22 half-centuries at the best score of 90 runs.

#3 Alyssa Healy (Australia) — 1,008 Runs in Women's T20 World Cup

Australia will be without their veteran wicket-keeper batter and former captain, Alyssa Healy, in the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, as she has already retired from international cricket after the home series against India.

The 36-year-old is the third leading run-getter of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup history. She has drilled 1008 runs in 39 innings of the event at an average of 28.80. But her blistering strike rate of 129.39 is amazing, besides gathering seven half-centuries at the best score of 83 runs.

Healy was the leading run-getter of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2018 when she was adjudged the ‘Player of the Tournament.’ She contributed 225 runs of the season in just five innings at an average of 56.25 and a strike rate of 144.23 with two half-centuries at the best score of undefeated 56 runs.

She carried the same beast form in the final of the T20 World Cup 2020 against India before the 86000 spectators at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Her crucial knock of 75 runs in just 39 balls with seven boundaries and five sixes at a strike rate of 192.31 scripted their 85-run victory.

Along with her batting, the Queensland-born had shown her quick hands behind the stumps to be a dual threat for any opposition. She is the third leading run-getter of the WT20Is for the Australia side with 3054 runs in 143 innings at an average of 25.45 and a strike rate of 129.79, thanks to 17 fifties and one century at the best score of unbeaten 148 runs.

#4 Meg Lanning (Australia) — 996 Runs in Women's T20 World Cup

Meg Lanning is the only player on the list in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup to celebrate a century and captain the five World-Cup-winning teams. She is fourth on the list of most runs of the competition with 992 runs in 32 innings at an average of nearly 40 and a strike rate of 112.72, thanks to four fifties and one century.

During the 2014 edition of the competition, Lanning finished as the leading run-getter. She amassed 257 runs in just six innings at an average of 42.83 and a strike rate of 158.64. Her best score of 126 runs came against Ireland. That remains the highest individual score in the Women’s T20 World Cup history as her average of 39.68 is the second-best average of the list after Beth Mooney’s 41.77.

She had an amazing ability to shift gears and control the run chases under pressure, which put her in the heart of their batting order during their dominant and consistent run of six titles. She led the side to the titles in 2012, 2014, 2018, 2020, and 2023, cementing her reputation as the most successful captain of women’s T20 cricket.

Lanning is currently the second leading run-getter in the shortest format for Australia, having nailed 3405 runs in 121 innings at an average of 36.61 and a strike rate of 116.37, thanks to two centuries and 15 half-centuries at the best score of undefeated 133 runs.

#5 Sophie Devine (New Zealand) — 960+ Runs in Women's T20 World Cup

Sophie Devine, another New Zealand star, finds herself in fifth position among the top run-getters in the Women’s T20 World Cup history. She has collected 785 runs in 38 innings at an average of 26.16 and a strike rate of 111.82 with the help of four half-centuries at the best score of unbeaten 75 runs.

Devine is one of the hard-hitting all-rounders of women’s cricket as she can clear the boundaries with ease and also chip in with useful wickets.

The former captain was really vital for the White Ferns’ success in the 2024 edition. She managed 114 runs of the campaign in six innings at an average of 28.50 and a strike rate of 107.54, thanks to one half-century. Her fifty came against India as the team got the confidence to go all the way.

Devine has smashed an overall of 19 sixes, which is the joint second most in the Women’s T20 World Cup history, only after Dottin’s 31 over boundaries. She has a total of 3632 runs in WT20Is for the New Zealand side at an average of 28.59 and a strike rate of 122.16 with 23 half-centuries and one century at the best score of 105 runs. She will hope to continue another successful T20 World Cup in 2026.

#6 Deandra Dottin (West Indies) — 770 Runs in Women's T20 World Cup

West Indies' Deandra Dottin is sixth on the list of most runs by a batter in the history of the Women's T20 World Cup. She has overall smashed 770 runs in 35 innings of the event at an average of 26.55 and a blistering strike rate of 127.90, thanks to three half-centuries and one century at the best score of unbeaten 112 runs.

The veteran batter has gone through all the seasons of the competition, starting in 2009 in England. She is expected to continue the aggressive batting even in the upcoming 2026 edition of the competition, having smashed 3094 runs in 141 innings of the Women's T20Is at an average of nearly 27, shouldering on 14 fifties and two centuries at the best score of unbeaten 112 runs.

Dottin's best season with the bat in the tournament history came in 2016 when he drilled 129 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 115.17 at the best score of 45 runs. They went on to lift the title in that edition.

India Women — Top Run Scorers in Women's T20 World Cup

Highest score by a player in ICC Women's T20 World Cup History- Meg Lanning's 126 off 65 balls in 2014

It was the group-stage game between Australia and Ireland from the 2014 edition at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The Austalian side batted first and posted a huge score of 191 runs for the loss of four wickets in their allotted 20 overs. They lost their opener, Alyssa Healy early, before their captain Meg Lanning took the control.

The right-handed batter blasted a tremendous knock of 126 runs off just 65 balls at a strike rate of 193.85, thanks to 18 boundaries and four sixes. It was a quality knock of the highest order as they completed a huge 78-run win by restricting the opposition for just 113/7.

Active Players Who Can Break the All-Time Record in 2026  (Bates, Mandhana, Sciver-Brunt tracking)

In the 2016 edition of T20 World Cup, Suzie Bates, who is the leading run-getter of the T20 World Cup history with 1216 runs in 42 innings will hope to break the 1500-run mark and end on a high. But She will be challenged by Beth Mooney and Nat Scriver Brunt, both of whom have more than 700 runs and can expect to score a lot of runs in this event.

Apart from the top five, some great batters could break into the top five players of the list after the end of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. Both Charlotte Edwards and Mooney could aim for the top five if they get around 250 runs by the end of the campaign. India’s captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, will also have the same ambition.

Their opener, Smriti Mandhana, who is the leading run-getter for India in the WT20Is with 4293 runs in 157 innings, will also aim to break the 1000-run mark of the T20 World Cup after the 2026 season.

The blue brigade will begin the upcoming edition of the competition on June 14 against the arch-rivals, Pakistan, at Edgbaston in Birmingham. The final of the competition will take place on July 05 at the iconic Lord’s in London.
