During the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League 2026 clash between the Amritsar Soormas and Fazilka Falcons at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, the two Indian and Punjab teammates, Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill, faced each other while captaining their respective sides.  

Abhishek’s wild celebration on the dismissal of Gill went viral on social media platforms, as the former opened the bowling in this encounter and has been performing as a spin all-rounder during this competition. The left-arm spinner has done decently with the ball inside the powerplay.

Vihaan Malhotra smashed Abhishek’s final delivery of the very first over for a fine boundary into the deep extra cover region before Gill joined the party, smashing Naman Dhir for three successive boundaries in the second over of the innings.

However, Abhishek got his first wicket in the form of Anshul Chaudhary, who was trapped leg before the stumps. Gill continued his aggressive batting from the other end and celebrated his fifty with a double against Mayank Markande into the deep mid-wicket region.  

Abhishek came back into the attack on the tenth over of the innings. Shubman Gill opened the over with a massive six straight down the ground, while the third ball of the over was nailed by a boundary to the deep mid-wicket. On the fifth ball of the over, the right-handed batter drilled the spinner for a six over the deep mid-wicket region.

It was the final delivery of the tenth over of the innings when Abhishek offered width and put it on a short length as Gill went back to the crease and looked to clear the boundary rope for a six. But he failed to get the power and was dismissed on 67 runs off 35 balls with eight boundaries and three sixes.

Fazilka Falcons, thanks to Indian captain Gill’s superb opening knock of 67 runs off 35 balls at a strike rate of 191.43, with eight boundaries and three sixes, got a strong platform. Sanvir Singh smacked a dashing knock of 40 runs in 21 balls at a strike rate of 190.48, thanks to two boundaries and three sixes.

Amritsar Soormas completed the chase of 195 runs for the loss of six wickets with three balls to spare. Rahul Kumar remained unbeaten on 53 runs off 35 balls at a strike rate of 151.43, thanks to five boundaries and a pair of sixes.

Brief Scores: Amritsar Soormas 195/6 (Rahul Kumar 53*, Garv Kumar 2/25) beat Fazilka Falcons 191/6 (Shubman Gill 67, Akash Pandey 2/20) by four wickets.
