In what seemed to be an easy victory coming for Bangladesh during the one-off Test against Afghanistan at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the home side showed incredible batting performance and survived 142 runs in the second innings to earn the nail-biting draw on the last minute of the game.

Bangladesh dropped a few catches and missed a couple of run-out chances in the last session to let the game drift away. They couldn’t hold onto their nerves when it mattered the most, but Afghanistan again showed why they are being called warriors.

How Afghanistan and Bangladesh settled a tense Abu Dhabi finish

Bangladesh posted a massive score of 346 runs in the first innings, thanks to the three respective half-centuries from Shadman Islam, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, and Litton Das. The other batters also contributed well in the middle and lower order of the line-up.

The Rahmat Shah-led side was well in their way being at 219/4 as their captain smashed a powerful knock of unbeaten 105 runs. However, Hasan Mahmud’s hat-trick, including the five-wicket haul, blew away the hosts for 240 runs.

Litton celebrated a fine century during the second innings of Bangladesh’s batting along with captain Najmul Hossain Shanto’s 82 runs. They set 140 overs for the hosts to survive, and Afghanistan showed their steadiness. Sediqullah Atal set the platform with a fine knock of 111 runs off 332 balls.
