Just when Bangladesh seemed to be falling short of skills during their one-off Test against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi after the end of the second day’s play, their premier pacer, Hasan Mahmud, fired up with a Test hat-trick, becoming the first pacer of the country to achieve the special feat on the third day of the red-ball encounter.
After the end of the second day, the home side, Afghanistan, were in a strong position to take a strong lead over the tourists, who needed some inspiration from their bowling unit, and Mahmud, who showed his value even during their historic win in Australia, continued the same glorious performance.

On the third delivery of the 83rd over of the innings, Mahmud dismissed Ismat Ahmed, who stood there with a bemused look on his face. The right-arm pacer of the Bangladesh side went with a back-of-a-length delivery that kept really low and broke the furniture.

That was followed by another back-of-a-length delivery outside the off stump that moved in with the natural over the wicket angle. Qais Ahmed played inside the line and only managed to get a thick outside edge as the wicket-keeper, Litton Das, moved a little to grab the stunning catch with the full-length dive.

Bangladesh set a strong and attacking field for the hat-trick delivery. Mahmud trapped Ziaur Rahman before the stumps. The batter tried to punch the ball towards the mid-on region but was beaten on the inside edge. He became the first Bangladeshi pacer to take a hat-trick in the longest format of the game.
