What a finish by Afghanistan! Brilliant performance! Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s five-wicket haul ripped apart the rival batting line-up as Afghanistan routed Scotland by 130 runs in a Super 12 match of the T20 World Cup on Monday. Afghanistan produced a dominating display of power-hitting before Mujeeb Ur Rahman ripped apart the rival batting line-up with his five-wicket haul as the strife-torn Asian nation routed Scotland by 130 runs in a Super 12 match of the T20.
Scotland were bowled out for 60 as Mujeeb Ur Rahman stormed past their top and middle order while chasing a total of 191. He claimed five wickets, including three in his second over. Rashid Khan also grabbed four wickets, bowling out Scotland’s whole tail. Scotland’s top scorer was George Munsey, who had an 18-ball 25. Afghanistan had previously stitched a total of 190/4, thanks in great part to Najibullah Zadran’s fine fifty. Hazratullah Zazai and Rahmanullah Gurbaz each contributed 44 and 46 points, respectively. Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi had initially won the toss and opted to bat first.
Afghanistan’s victory was a huge one, and they’ll be pleased with their start to the Super 12 stage. Now, it will be interesting to see whether Scotland will reflect on where things went wrong and come up with some solutions.
