The Asian Games 2026 will be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4. India will make its 20th appearance at the Asian Games, with 43 sports set to feature in the 20th edition of the event.

Cricket will be one of the sports at the Asian Games 2026. Both India’s men’s and women’s cricket teams will take part in the tournament and will look to put up a strong performance on the international stage.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the India men’s cricket squad on June 6, 2026, while the women’s squad was announced on June 30, 2026. Both teams will represent India in the cricket competition.

The cricket matches at the Asian Games 2026 will be played at Kōrogi Sports Park, also known as Korogi Athletic Park, in Nisshin, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. In this article, we will share the complete details of India’s men’s and women’s cricket squads for the Asian Games 2026.

Complete list of all qualified teams for cricket at the 2026 Asian Games

The cricket matches at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 will be played in the T20 format. No ODI matches are scheduled for the tournament. Cricket will be featured in the Asian Games for the fourth time, with India entering as the defending champions in both the men’s and women’s events.

A total of 10 teams have qualified for the men’s cricket tournament: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. These teams will compete for the men’s cricket gold medal at the Asian Games.

Eight teams have qualified for the women’s cricket tournament so far: Bangladesh, India, China, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Thailand. India will aim to defend both its men’s and women’s titles, with experienced players and young talents expected to play an important role in the team’s campaign.

Shreyas Iyer will lead the India men’s cricket team at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, as India aim to defend their gold medal. Iyer will be supported by Tilak Varma, who has been named vice-captain. The squad includes a mix of experienced players and young talents.

India won their first Asian Games gold medal in men’s cricket at the Hangzhou 2023 Games. The final against Afghanistan was affected by rain and was suspended without a result. India were declared winners based on their higher seeding and secured the gold medal.

Harmanpreet Kaur retains captaincy for women's Squad; Smriti Mandhana named vice-captain

Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the Indian women’s cricket team at the 2026 Asian Games for the second successive time, with Smriti Mandhana serving as vice-captain. The 15-member squad includes several experienced players, including Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh and Renuka Thakur.

Jemimah Rodrigues was initially included in the squad announced in June but was later ruled out after suffering a hamstring injury during The Hundred in August. She has been replaced by Pratika Rawal. All-rounder Shreyanka Patil has also been included in the squad, subject to fitness clearance.

India will enter the tournament as the defending champions after winning the women’s cricket gold medal on their Asian Games debut at Hangzhou 2023. Harmanpreet Kaur’s team defeated Bangladesh in the semi-final before beating Sri Lanka in the final. The women’s competition will feature eight teams and will be played in a direct knockout format, starting with the quarter-finals.
