Veteran Australian batter Steve Smith has shared that he does not have any plan to end his illustrious cricket career. The veteran player has recently signed a three-year contract with the Sydney Sixers, and with this, he will return to the Big Bash League (BBL) as well. Smith's commitment to the Sixers will see him play up to four BBL matches during the upcoming home summer, which is in between the final Test against India and Australia's tour of Sri Lanka as well.

"I'm just enjoying playing at the moment" - Steve Smith

Despite being dropped from Australia's Twenty20 World Cup squad for the tournament in the United States and the Caribbean, Smith remains hopeful of playing across all formats. He also expressed his eagerness to make the most of every opportunity as well.

"I don't have any plans, I'm just enjoying playing at the moment. I'm pretty relaxed and I'm looking forward to this summer," Smith told reporters on Tuesday. "I think I'll get a few (BBL) games in this year and then we'll see where we go from there. Every chance I get, I jump at it."

"I'm happy wherever and I’ll bat anywhere for the team" - Steve Smith

However, Steve Smith's future in Test cricket has also been a topic of discussion, especially after David Warner retired from Tests following the Pakistan series during the last home summer as well. Smith opened the batting for Australia against the West Indies and New Zealand but he had a poor show, scoring 171 runs in eight innings at an average of 28.25 which is below his career average of 56.97 as well.

"The conversations I’ve had so far are that we’ll go to England and the boys will have the T20s, and then I’m there for the one-dayers and we’ll make a decision after that," he said. "Those conversations are happening in the background. I saw some comments that Usman (Khawaja) made and I think he said he likes me down at number four, and I think Marnus (Labuschagne) is of a similar thought pattern. I'm happy wherever and I’ll bat anywhere for the team. For me it’s just a position."
