Finally, the speculations about the possible signing of Sydney Sixers have proved right. The franchise from Australia's Big Bash League announced the acquisition of star Pakistan batter Babar Azam.
On Friday, through a social media post, the Sydney Sixers officially announced the arrival of the batter. Babar Azam's singing marked one of the most talked-about events in the history of the Big Bash League. Despite his recent setbacks in the team Pakistan, Babar's ability and the numbers he possessed are beyond any question.
The right-handed cricketer was named the ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year in 2021 and 2022 and crowned the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year in 2022. Along with achievements with his national team, the former skipper of Pakistan gained experience playing in multiple T20 franchise leagues. Azam played in the reputed leagues like the Pakistan Super League, Caribbean Premier League, and English domestic competitions. The management of the Sydney Sixers expressed their excitement after roping in the star player.

The same tone rang in Babar's voice too. Through a video posted by the club, he said, "It’s an exciting opportunity to play in one of the world’s best T20 leagues and to be a part of such a successful and respected franchise. I’m looking forward to contributing to the team’s success, building a strong connection with the fans, and sharing this experience with my friends, family, and supporters at home in Pakistan."
