Bihar’s Akshara Gupta scores triple century at 14 — Bihar's next star after Vaibhav Sooryavanshi?
After the excellent progress of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in world cricket, Bihar's opening batter, Akshara Gupta, scores a fabulous triple century at an age of just 14 and could be the next star.

In the current mode of Indian cricket, a young Bihar-born Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, at just 15, has already broken several records in the game against some of the premier bowlers, including Pat Cummins and Jasprit Bumrah, to break into the senior squad of the national side. Now, a 14-year-old girl, Akshara Gupta, has taken the same route.
Young batter from Bihar, Akshara Gupta, created a new milestone in women’s domestic cricket by smashing a stunning knock of 306 runs in the BCA Women’s U-19 One-day Trophy tournament, which commenced on June 18 at the Sandis Compound Ground in Bhagalpur.

Akshara played a sensational knock, representing her team and carving out a special place for herself in women’s domestic cricket. During the historic knock, she nailed 55 boundaries and eight sixes and got the runs in just 126 deliveries at an impressive strike rate of 242.86 and spent only 233 minutes at the crease.
One of the most remarkable aspects of her innings was how she reached her half-century in just 16 balls and completed her century off just 34 balls, showcasing her exceptional batting abilities.

The Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) congratulated the youngster as their president, Harshvardhan, reckoned that Bihar’s women cricketers are bringing laurels to the state through some strong performances. He also added that they had been working to provide better chances and platforms for players.
The Bihar Cricket Association Secretary, Ziaul Arfin, also extended his congratulations, stating that the talent at the start of the BCA Women’s U-19 ODI Trophy has been a highly positive sign for the game in Bihar, as he wished Akshara a bright future ahead.

Akshara Gupta’s innings has now become one of the most memorable knocks in the domestic cricket of the women’s game, as it has established a new record for BCA. Previously, one of the highest individual scores in women’s cricket belonged to Mumbai’s Ira Gupta, who had scored an unbeaten 346 runs in a domestic state-level match, as his innings included 42 boundaries and 16 sixes.
Akshara’s unbeaten 306 and Ira Jadhav's unbeaten 346 show the strength in women’s domestic cricket. For Bihar, it’s a special time, with the way Sooryavanshi has marked his name in world cricket. Ishan Kishan is the Bihar-born to play for India to be the last, but Saba Karim perhaps was the one, who was the domestic Bihar player, to feature for the national side.

The left-handed opener, during the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, smashed 776 runs in just 16 innings at an average of 48.50 and a jaw-dropping strike rate of 237.30, thanks to five half-centuries and one century at the best score of 103 runs. He could mark his debut for India in the upcoming seven T20Is against Ireland and England, respectively.
