After the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash between the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, an emotional incident took place when Jos Buttler gifted his bat to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi after the end of the encounter. 

Sooryavanshi has been really impressive with the bat through the IPL 2026 campaign for the Rajasthan Royals. Even in the contest against the Shubman Gill-led side, the left-handed batter smashed 36 runs in 16 balls at a strike rate of 225, thanks to three boundaries and three sixes.

Before the start of the IPL 2026, Buttler highlighted how he was flabbergasted by the batting impact of Sooryavanshi at such a young age. The T20 World Cup-winning captain of the England side stressed the power of the 15-year-old against some of the best bowlers in world cricket.

The Bihar-born has smashed some of the premier bowlers of the game, including Jasprit Bumrah, Josh Hazlewood, Mohammed Siraj, and Kagiso Rabada. After the end of the recent contest against the Titans, Buttler walked up to Sooryavanshi and handed the wonder-kid his bat at the moment when it went viral on social media platforms.

Sooryavanshi is currently the fifth leading run-getter of the competition with 440 runs in 11 innings at an average of 40 and a brutal strike rate of 236.55, thanks to two half-centuries and one century at the best score of 103 runs against the Titans during the previous IPL.

Jos Buttler has also been in decent touch with the bat, being the second leading run-getter of the side with 348 runs in 11 innings at an average of 34.80 and a strike rate of 151.96, having scored two half-centuries at the best score of 60 runs.

Gujarat’s 77-run win over the Royals provided them the chance to get themselves into the second position of the table with 14 points, while Rajasthan dropped to the fifth position with 12 points.
