The former World Cup-winning Indian all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh, visited Thrissur, Kerala, for a public event alongside Navya Nair, where he praised Sanju Samson, speaking about the cricketer’s progress in the T20 World Cup 2026 and the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026.

Samson, who was struggling to find form heading into the T20 World Cup, turned the clock with a few gorgeous knocks in the business end and contributed immensely to the blue brigade winning the ICC event for the second successive time.

Yuvraj was present at the event in Kerala, where he paid tribute to two of the greatest players to have represented the national side. At first, he touched on his former teammate, S Sreesanth, with whom he won the ODI World Cup in 2011 and the T20 World Cup in 2007, as well as mentioning the new superstar of the state, Samson.

And, you know, Kerala has given us two amazing players in cricket- S Sreesanth, and now Sanju Samson. It’s special to see Samson doing well in the World Cup and carrying the same form in the IPL. So, it’s great to see that.The former spin all-rounder expressed in a viral video.

Samson is currently the eighth leading run-getter of the IPL 2026. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter has smashed 402 runs in 10 innings at an average of 57.42 and a strike rate of 167.50, thanks to one fifty and two centuries.

Why Kerala is proud: Sanju Samson's T20 World Cup 2026 - Player of the Tournament with 321 Runs in 5 games

Samson was equally incredible in the T20 World Cup 2026. Kerala and their fans have been super proud of the batter’s contribution at the opening position. When Abhishek Sharma struggled with the bat, he shouldered the responsibility of scoring runs inside the powerplay and staying till the end.

No one can forget his fantastic knock of 97* against the West Indies at the Eden Gardens in the virtual knockout. He finished the competition as the event’s third leading run-getter with 321 runs in five innings at an average of 80.25 and a strike rate of around 200, with the help of three fifties at the best score of 97*.

Samson hopes to continue the same purple in the IPL 2026 and beyond for the national side.
