When Sunrisers Hyderabad, with a stunning batting lineup, was positioned as the most hyped IPL 2025 team, Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the meantime took a step forward towards their possible maiden Indian Premier League glory with Shreyas Iyer as captain. Why and how does PBKS become a commendable force in the tournament this season?

Undoubtedly, Shreyas Iyer, former KKR skipper and IPL 2024 winning captain, is one of the driving forces for PBKS. He's doing his batting job well under pressure. So far in IPL 2025, Iyer has scored 2 half centuries—97* vs. Gujarat Titans and 52* against Lucknow Super Giants. Overall, the star Indian batter has bagged 168 in 4 matches with a 200.00 strike rate. Currently, after playing 4 matches (3W, 1L), Punjab Kings claimed 6 points. Gujarat Titans (GT) are on top of the chart with 8 points in 5 games. Kings are only 2 points away from GT and the number one spot in the IPL 2025 points table.

Priyansh Arya from Punjab Kings recently scored a record-breaking hundred and credited skipper Shreyas Iyer for supporting him.

Why Punjab Kings can win IPL 2025 under Iyer's leadership?

Shreyas Iyar is a pure team player; he is not someone who played only for his name. The 30-year-old batter can hold his nerves in tough situations and can think according to the situation of the match. He has the ability to use his bowlers to read the opposing team's batters. Iyar got well-rounded guidance from legendary figures like Ricky Ponting. Thus, over the years, Iyar has evolved his leadership abilities and possibly is the right man to guide Punjab Kings to IPL glory.
