The former captain, MS Dhoni, who won the T20 World Cup in 2007 for the inaugural edition of the tournament, has lauded the head coach Gautam Gambhir and the Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian side for their historic and record third title of the trophy, beating New Zealand by 96 runs at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Breaking the social media silence of nearly two years late on March 08, MS Dhoni applauded the home side’s supreme run in the event, which culminated with a massive win over the Blackcaps, as it marked them the first team to win three titles of the T20 World Cups. India also became the first side to win successive T20 WCs at home.

“History gets created at Ahmedabad, big congratulations to the team and support staff, and to all the fans of the Indian Cricket Team worldwide. Such a pleasure to see all of you play. Coach Sahab's smile looks great on you. Intensity with a smile is a killer combo, very well done. Enjoy, guys.Dhoni wrote on Instagram.

MS Dhoni called Jasprit Bumrah the champion bowler as the right-arm pacer ended up with four wickets in his four-over spell, conceding 15 runs, and ended up winning the Player of the Match award. He has also become the highest wicket-taker in the history of the T20 World Cups with 40 wickets at an economy rate of under six.

That’s what I said, like how Sanju said in the last game, he wanted to give his Man of the Match to Jasprit Bumrah. Once in a generation, bowler, I can call him a national treasure right now. But he knows what needs to be done, how it needs to be done, the best in the business, and hopefully he keeps doing that.India’s captain, Suryakumar Yadav, said in the post-match presentation.

Sanju Samson won the player of the tournament, having smashed 321 runs at a strike rate of nearly 200 while he drilled a fine knock of 89 runs in 46 balls in the final, smashing five boundaries and eight sixes.
