CSK break silence on Sanju Samson trade rumours; “We are hopeful he’ll play for us”
CSK have officially expressed interest in trading for Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson ahead of IPL 2026, with talks reportedly involving a potential swap for Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran.

Amidst speculation regarding Sanju Samson possibly joining the Chennai Super Kings, an official from CSK officially confirmed interest in the Rajasthan Royals captain. Various reports suggested that Samson, who has played for RR since 2018, is seeking a new challenge and CSK are the leading candidate to sign him ahead of IPL 2026.
Reports indicate trade talks between the two franchises are still sensitive. Reports from Rajasthan Royals indicate that they may explore a trade deal for the two franchises that would involve Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran, both key all-rounders in the Super Kings franchise. However, as the IPL trade deal has to be approved by all players involved, the deal is not certain.
A senior CSK official told PTI, "Everyone knows we want to get Sanju. We have expressed interest in this trading window, but RR are still weighing their options. We are hopeful that Sanju will play for CSK."
Samson’s move could strengthen CSK’s top order
If successful, this could become one of the more significant transfers in the history of IPL. Samson's fierce batting prowess, coupled with wicketkeeping skill, is poised to add heft and flexibility to the CSK's top order, which houses new talent like Ayush Mhatre and Urvil Patel.
"They want Jadeja and Curran in turn to build a stronger all-around core after the inconsistent 2025 season," sources close to the Royals suggested. If this deal goes through, both teams may see a significant shift in their balance and team dynamics ahead of IPL 2026.
