The recent revelation by the Election Commissioner of India has brought to light Chennai Super Kings (CSK), one of the most successful IPL franchise, and its promoter, India Cements, as significant donors to the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) through electoral bonds. AIADMK, a Tamil Nadu-based political party led by MK Stalin, received INR 6.05 crore through electoral bonds between April 2 and April 4, 2019. CSK and its promoter, India Cements, contributed INR 5 crore to AIADMK via electoral bonds during this period. CSK’s contributions to AIADMK were substantial, with the franchise donating electoral bonds worth INR 1 crore on three occasions.
