Dasun Shanaka smashed the fastest century in CPL history, reaching 100 off just 39 balls and finishing unbeaten on 121, as St Kitts and Nevis Patriots crushed St Lucia Kings by 137 runs

During the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 clash between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and St Lucia Kings at Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts, Dasun Shanaka set the record for the fastest century in the tournament's history. His 39-ball century surpassed Andre Russell's previous record of 40 deliveries in 2018.
Shanaka’s century helped the Patriots get the victory and earn two points in the table as they have now placed themselves at the fifth position with three wins in eight clashes at a net run rate of +0.593. The Kings, meanwhile, remained at the fourth position with their four wins at a NRR of -0.890.
How Dasun Shanaka's 39-ball hundred broke the CPL's record
On the second delivery of the 11th over of the innings, Dasun Shanaka picked up the tossed-up slower delivery from Joshua Bishop and smashed it for a fine boundary. On two successive deliveries in the 12th over of the innings against Roston Chase, Shanka cleared his front-leg and hammered it for back-to-back sixes.

The former Sri Lankan captain continued the onslaught with two more boundaries in the Matthew Forde over. In the 18th over of the innings against his countryman, Maheesh Theekshana, Shanaka clubbed two consecutive boundaries before ending the over with a boundary.

Finally, on the second ball of the final over, he whipped the length delivery for a six and celebrated the fastest century in CPL history, before hugging his fellow Sri Lankan, Wanindu Hasaranga, who was also happy for Shanaka.
St Kitts & Nevis Patriots crush St Lucia Kings by 137 runs
Batting first, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots posted a massive score of 235 runs for the loss of four wickets in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to the fine unbeaten knock of 121 runs off 43 balls at a strike rate of 281.40 from Shanaka, who celebrated eight boundaries and 12 sixes in the glorious knock.
In reply, St Lucia got bundled out for 98 runs, with only Tim Seifert showing some fight for his 50 runs off 36 balls, with the help of his eight boundaries. They lost the encounter by 137 runs as Jeremiah Louis ended up with figures of 5/10 in his 2.5 overs.
