In a determined bid to hold on to hosting rights for the IPL 2025 final, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has forwarded meteorological reports to the BCCI in an attempt to persuade the board not to relocate the marquee match from Kolkata's Eden Gardens. The final, initially to be hosted in Kolkata on June 3, has been moved to Ahmedabad, reportedly because of weather conditions, though no official announcement has been made.
As per RevSportz, the CAB contacted Kolkata's Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) and the New Delhi-based Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on behalf of the Kolkata units and asked them to provide June 3 forecasts. Both agencies told them that it is premature to make an accurate forecast at this point, and a better forecast would be possible only by May 25. The reports have now been provided to the BCCI by the CAB, asking them to reverse the decision to shift the final.
"We are still sure that everything will be okay since we have done a very good job in planning everything," the CAB said. "Also, you can't forecast weather conditions this early, and we have presented all official papers to this end." The group feels that the relocation of the match based on uncertain initial predictions is unfair. Officials from the CAB are optimistic that the BCCI will consider the information presented and grant Kolkata an opportunity to host the IPL 2025 final as intended.

Meanwhile, speculation continues around alternative venues. As per the Times of India, Delhi has emerged as a possible host for some playoff matches, while Ahmedabad remains the frontrunner for the final. The revised IPL schedule has the playoffs split across six cities: Delhi, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Jaipur, and Mumbai. As per the ongoing plan, Qualifier 1 is scheduled for May 29, the Eliminator on May 30, and Qualifier 2 on June 1. The final has been scheduled for June 3, but the venue is yet to be confirmed.
If Eden Gardens misses out on the final, the BCCI might compensate CAB by giving it hosting rights for a semifinal or a final in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup to be held in February–March 2026. At present, CAB hopes that its proactive stance, coupled with official weather reports, will bring the IPL 2025 final to Kolkata.
