England U19 pulled off a dramatic one-wicket win against India U19 in the second Youth ODI at Northampton’s County Ground. In a nerve-wracking chase of 291, Thomas Rew starred with a stunning century while England’s lower order held their nerve in a last-over thriller. With this victory, England leveled the five-match series 1–1 after India had claimed the opener.

India U19 Innings: 290/10 in 49 Overs

Put into bat, India U19 got off to a shaky start, losing captain Ayush Mhatre for a duck in the first over. However, Vaibhav Suryavanshi launched a counterattack, smashing 45 off 34 balls (5 fours, 3 sixes) to give India momentum. Vihan Malhotra (49 off 68) and Rahul Kumar (47 off 47) steadied the middle overs, while Kanishk Chouhan’s 45 from 40 balls gave the innings a further push. But India could not finish strongly—Alex French dismantled the lower order with a brilliant spell of 4/71, which included a crucial double-strike in the 48th over. India folded for 290 in 49 overs, with a total of 32 extras.

England U19 Innings: 291/9 in 49.3 Overs

England’s chase began poorly at 7/1, but Thomas Rew’s sublime knock of 131 off 89 balls (16 fours, 1 six) anchored the innings. Despite losing regular wickets, including Rocky Flintoff (39) and Jack Home (3), Rew kept England alive. His dismissal at 279/9 brought India roaring back, but Sebastian Morgan (20* off 12) and Alex French (3* off 5) held firm under pressure to take England over the line with three balls to spare. India’s Ambrish R. S. impressed with 4/80, while Henil Patel claimed 2/28 and dismissed Rew at a crucial juncture.
